Language Olympiad

The almost universally expressed needs of a learner in the 21st century are: enrichment of vocabulary, correct pronunciation and acquisition of language skills namely Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW). It is strongly believed that sound knowledge of language and relentlessly regular practice of the required skills helps in augmenting the competence of the learner.

Language Olympiad 2015-16 is a unique platform for promising ORATORS, DEBATERS, NARRATORS, DEMONSTRATORS/PRESENTERS AND SPELLERS to showcase their hidden talent and nurture their intrinsic ability on real-life situations, thereby contributing towards their productivity.

The aim of this Language Olympiad is to provide knowledge and the application of that knowledge to achieve proficiency in all four language skills (LSRW).

721. PUBLIC SPEAKING
This will examine your ability to deliver/convey a message to the mass audience. This will depend on different situations and aspects. The students must also focus on the public responses.

Assessment Parameters: Confidence, Content, Goals, Professional Speaking and Audience Response.

722. GROUP DISCUSSION
Discussion on a given topic provides us with better understanding of the subject being discussed. Group of students discuss on a selected topic. Every participant gets an opportunity to speak and suggest others on the same.


Duration: 5 Minutes
Max Marks: 40
Assessment Parameters: Initiative, Content/style, Team Spirit, Body Language, Communication Skills and Closure Summary.

To know how confidently one can defend their view, for or against in a particular subject. A group of students debate for or against a selected topic and demonstrate the evidences and reasons.

Selling a product and services result in revenue generation, which assumes great significance in the present context. Every individual would do well to have some salesmanship skills to be able to convince their customers. This competition gives a platform to assess their skills.

Letters are the building blocks of any language. A combination of different letters make up words, which then assume pertinent forms of meaning. Spell Bee is a competition for students to be tested on their spelling knowledge.

It constitutes an art of a students to memorize and understand the spellings of the different words based on their meanings and practical utility in sentences. Under this, the students would need to solve crosswords to ascertain their language skills.
